Multi-day treks to Wagagai at 4,321 metres by the Sasa, Sipi or Piswa routes, arranged through Uganda Wildlife Authority or a trekking operator. Mbale is where the trip starts and ends.
Three waterfalls on the north-western slopes of Elgon, and the most-taken day trip from the hotel. Waterfall hikes, coffee farms, photography and abseiling.

Arabica grows on these slopes, and farm visits around Sipi and the Elgon foothills take you through picking, washing, drying and roasting before you drink the result.
Lower forest walks from the Kapkwai Forest Exploration Centre, through forest, waterfalls, caves and viewpoints, without committing to nights on the mountain.
Mount Elgon forest and the surrounding habitats reward a slow morning. Lower forest trails suit birders better than a summit schedule does.
Further out: rock paintings near Kumi, savannah wildlife at Pian Upe, and the climb up Tororo Rock. Each is a full day from Mbale.
